The Program
A Day At P.A.R.T.Y.
A variety of teaching tools are used to help students “walk along” the common course of injury and treatment. Classroom sessions, videos, presentations and role-playing demonstrations from nurses, police, firefighters and paramedics and observing a simulated trauma patient when possible, in the Emergency Department or Intensive Care Unit. Students are given a small glimpse into what life can be like post-trauma eating lunch with a physical disability, and the reality of the lengthy rehabilitation process. One of the most powerful sessions of the program is when students hear from people who have been injured through their, or someone else’s, poor choice. Their stories make real the tragedy of poor choice and their message is clear: Life is a matter of choices - one choice can change your life forever.
